Bagpipe banduca to liven up events
Description
The Banduca L'Ábrigu, a cultural association domiciled in Santander, was born in January 2019, with its members from different locations in Cantabria. The name for the group is the native word "L'Ábrigu", which means the south wind, the characteristic wind of the area. The musical repertoire of the Banduca L'Ábrigu is mainly based on the traditional folklore of Cantabria (jotas a lo pesau and a lo ligeru, pasacalles, pasodobles, tonadas, rumbas, etc.), but it also interprets other types of folklore, mainly from the Atlantic arc (Galician, Asturian, Breton, Irish, Scottish, etc.), as well as adaptations of songs by groups of all kinds. We currently make up five people, although for certain projects we have external collaborators. To carry out the activity we have the following instruments: Bagpipes tuned in C, Bb and A Ocarinas Dulzainas Drums, tambourines and bass drum L'Ábrigu performs all kinds of musical performances in any type of event or festivity, such as concerts, parades, festivals, markets, pilgrimages, folkloric meetings, processions, entertainment in bars, weddings, etc. In its six years of life, L'Ábrigu has participated in more than 130 performances (markets, festivals, festivals of tourist interest, pilgrimages, processions, concerts, etc.), even outside its Autonomous Community, in places such as Portugal, Asturias, Burgos, Palencia, Cádiz or Ponferrada. The group has also collaborated in concerts with musicians of the stature of Carlos Núñez or folk groups from our land such as Cahórnega. Continuing with the idea of promoting the folklore of his beloved Tierruca and satisfying his musical concerns, L'Ábrigu has recorded and edited his first album, called "Galerna" and entirely made up of songs from Cantabria, during the year 2024.
